Parent Preparedness

  • Being a dance parent can feel overwhelming, but we hope to simplify the Recital process by supplying this information here on our website. We're available by text, call, or email for any questions — reach us at (336) 579-7812 or seschoolofdance@gmail.com.
  • Please ask all questions prior to the show date. We want this experience to be as smooth and pleasant as possible, but there's no guarantee SESD staff will be able to answer phone calls, texts, or emails at any time during the event.
  • Please remember that volunteers and staff are following the studio director's instructions and are dedicated to making the show as wonderful as possible for all participants. Please contact SESD after the show with any conflicts or concerns — the middle of a show isn't the best time for important conversations.

Theatre Etiquette

  • Absolutely no recording or photography is permitted — this includes cameras, cell phones, iPads, or any other devices. This is a safety and privacy matter for our dancers, and choreography is the property of SESD. Professional flash drives and photos will be available for purchase.
  • Do not leave personal items in the auditorium before or after the show — anything left in seats prior to doors opening will be removed by SESD or venue staff/security.
  • Guests should remain seated during all dances. If you must leave the auditorium, please do so between dances, and plan to stay for the entire show.
  • All dancers are required to stay for the entire show and are picked up after it ends — this helps SESD ensure each dancer is picked up by their parent/guardian.
  • Only dancers, instructors, SESD staff, and parent volunteers are permitted backstage at all times, for safety reasons.
  • Please clean up after yourself — no trash or food/drinks left inside the theatre.

Performer Eligibility & Attendance

  • The final month's tuition and any other outstanding fees should be paid in full no later than 5 business days prior to the show date for dancers to remain eligible to participate.
  • Picture Day and Dress Rehearsal are mandatory for all dancers; Ballet Cast Rehearsal is mandatory for Intermediate Level and up. The four weeks before the show are also mandatory attendance, except for illness, emergency, or a school event.
  • If you experience an illness or emergency, please call or text us right away.
